TRON has provided details on its Project Atlas, which is touted as a bold initiative, paving the way for content distribution in the future. For this purpose, BitTorrent would connect the network of peer-to-peer with that of its 100 million monthly active users to the distributed ledger technology during the first stage.

In a statement , the foundation creator of the infrastructure for decentralized internet, TRON, indicated that a set of BitTorrent protocol extensions would be used to make it not only quicker but also better for millions of its users. This included an in-client token economy, as well as, a custom token. The company claimed that its Project Atlas is nothing but a foundation for fresh content distribution type.

TRON disclosed that the product would have features such as backward compatibility, more seeds, quicker downloads, and no mining. Its founder and CEO, Justin Sun said,

“It is adapted to the world we live in today: mobile, connected, and transparent. We aim to eventually empower all content creators and their communities by eliminating the middleman and enabling content creators to distribute directly to users.”

Incentivize Users

Users of BitTorrent would be in a position to spend digital coins during the initial stage. The aim is to incentivize users to seed torrents for better swarm longevity, as well as, quicker download speeds. Seeders of BitTorrent could generate coins through the dedication of their bandwidth apart from storing. These will not only make swarms are quicker but also live longer. The company disclosed that it would utilize Delegated Proof of Stake system to exchange coins depending on the resources offered and not based on mining.

TRON indicated that there would not be any flaw as far as torrent clients are concerned irrespective of users opting to seed or download. BitTorrent would execute backward-compatible protocol extension as a feature for this purpose. This included both desktop and mobile products.
