There are at least two companies that are funding a documentary on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. This included the leading digital coin, bitcoin. The United States-based Netflix is helping Dubai-based Asri Bendacha in his documentary film on bitcoin following his first film with the same firm on influencers in the United Arab Emirates .
Similarly, Screen Australia declared its funding for 14 documentary projects that included a movie called “ Cryptopia – Bitcoin, Blockchain and the Future of the Internet ”.
The new documentary funded by Netflix title is “Who Wants to be a Bitcoin Millionaire? ” The expatriate of French-Algerian would travel across the globe himself and make the documentary. The streaming media service funded project will cover experts, film events and investors so that they get to know everything about not only bitcoin but other digital currencies. In a local media, Bendacha has reportedly said that there is no color or race or borders for money since it spreads across the globe.
He said that people are chasing money from every nook and corner of the world. Therefore, he is keen to understand the reason behind it. He added,
“I want to understand how Bitcoin works and what kind of impact it has on us. The technology behind it is the future. It’s been there for 10 years. I will be going to events all over the world – there’s so many of them. There are blockchain cruises; bankers are involved… I want to learn.”
He has already toured Venezuela, Iceland, Czech Republic, Morocco, Berlin, and the United States to film bits of the documentary.
Similarly, Screen Australia revealed the list of 14 new documentary projects which will be funded. The whole fund is $2.7 million and ‘Cryptopia ‘ is on the list and the fact that the overall sentiment in cryptocurrency market is down this change nothing and movie finally will be live.
It will be the second documentary film on ‘Cryptopia ‘ from the makers of “Bitcoin: The End of Money as We Know It (2015) ”.

Michael Watchulonis and Torsten Hoffmann, co-directors, will return to do the documentary on DLT and its potential in the upcoming years. The objective is to find out whether technology could really offer strong alternative options to the existing systems and curb financial meltdowns. This will enable private information to be kept safely.
